WW2 British army windproof suit (smock and trousers) were introduced in 1943 as a lightweight, windproof garment for Commandos, SAS, and Airborne units.
Our Windproof smocks are made in the same specs of fabric ( 100% cotton, plain weave twill Gabardine, single layer – unlined, 220-225 gsm, lighter than denim BD & Denison smock fabric, windproof camo pattern with base color pale khaki sand, wind resistant, breathable and quick drying) as in the war.
Our Windproof camo suits unlike the heavier Denison Smock, are unlined, cut generously, and fitted with an attached drawstring hood. they close with a buttoned placket and included a large front map pocket. The matching windproof trousers are of the same camouflaged fabric, with a drawcord waist and ankles. Issued to British and Commonwealth airborne and commando forces, they were also used by Canadian and Norwegian units during European campaigns from 1943–45.
