The WWII U.S. Army Men’s Wool Overcoat, officially designated the Overcoat, Wool, Serge, OD, was the standard heavy winter coat issued to enlisted men throughout World War II. Made from heavy olive drab wool serge, it was designed for warmth, durability, and smart appearance during both field and garrison service.
The overcoat features a double-breasted six-button front, notched lapels, two large side pockets, and a rear vent with belt half-back detail. The shoulders are reinforced for carrying equipment, and the interior is partially lined for comfort. This rugged garment was standard issue for all U.S. Army branches — worn over the service uniform or field jacket in cold-weather operations in Europe and the United States.
