The WWII U.S. Army Tanker’s Jacket, officially known as the Jacket, Combat, Winter, was designed for U.S. Armored Forces crews and became one of the most practical and popular jackets of the war. Introduced in 1941, it was issued primarily to tank crews but was soon widely adopted by infantry and airborne troops for its warmth and comfort.
Made from durable olive drab cotton twill with a wool blanket lining, the jacket features a front zipper closure, knit wool collar, cuffs, and waistband, and two slash hand pockets. The short, bloused design provided ease of movement in confined tank interiors while keeping warmth close to the body. Its rugged yet stylish construction made it a favorite among all branches of the U.S. Army.
