WWII U.S. Women’s Army Corps (WAC) Garrison Cap in OD

Highlights

• Officially worn by WAC personnel from 1942–1945 as part of the Class A and service uniform.

• Constructed in olive drab wool (officers often had a slightly finer wool).

• Soft folding “overseas” style cap with piped edge (officer versions sometimes featured branch piping).

• Designed to be worn with the WAC service jacket and skirt or trousers.

• Officer caps were typically worn with metal branch insignia on the left curtain and rank insignia when prescribed.

This cap replaced earlier WAAC headgear once the Women’s Army Corps was fully integrated into the U.S. Army in 1943.
