The WWII German Luftwaffe Service Dress Tunic (Tuchrock) was the standard uniform coat worn by officers, NCOs, and enlisted men for daily service and formal occasions from 1935 until the late war years. Made from high-quality blue-grey wool or wool gabardine, the Tuchrock was a tailored, functional garment designed to project both authority and precision.
Our complete replication of the original Luftwaffe Tuchrock features a six-button front, four pleated pockets with scalloped flaps, and a stand-and-fall collar displaying the Luftwaffe’s distinctive branch-colored collar tabs (Waffenfarben). The embroidered Luftwaffe eagle is sewn above the right breast pocket, while rank shoulder boards were attached to the epaulettes. Officers’ tunics were trimmed with silver piping around the collar and front edges, while enlisted versions retained plain finish. If you are ordering the Officers’ Tuchrock, you can specify your Waffenfabren, rank shoulderboards and piping color – at a nominal extra charge.
Internally, the tunic is fully lined in grey cotton, with reinforced seams and inner pockets for maps or documents. It was worn with matching blue-grey Tuchhose trousers, and in colder weather, beneath the Luftwaffe greatcoat or leather flight jacket. The Tuchrock became the most recognizable service tunic of the Luftwaffe and remained in use throughout the war in both administrative and front-line roles.
