The WWII German Luftwaffe Visor Cap (Schirmmütze) was the standard service dress cap worn by both officers and enlisted men of the Luftwaffe from 1935 through 1945. It was worn with the blue-grey dress or service uniform, providing the smart, formal appearance characteristic of German military headgear of the era.
Our replicated version of the cap is made from fine blue-grey wool, with a black patent leather visor, chinstrap, and band of dark blue wool o rribbed mohair as avialble) around the base. The front was adorned with the embroidered Luftwaffe eagle above a woven national cockade, both mounted over a silver-grey wreath.
Officer versions featured silver piping along the crown and band edges, while enlisted versions used blue-grey or branch-colored piping corresponding to the wearer’s unit. The interior was lined in light tan or grey cotton, with a leather or oilcloth sweatband.
This reproduction follows the 1939–1942 issue pattern and catures the refined shape and materials of the original Luftwaffe Schirmmütze, suitable for display or living-history wear.
