This reproduction represents the U.S. Army 2nd Pattern Herringbone Twill (HBT) Uniform, introduced in 1942 as an improvement over the 1st Pattern work uniform. Made from durable 8.5 oz. Cotton herringbone twill in OD Shade No. 7 (olive green), the set includes the jacket, trousers, and matching cap.
The HBT jacket features two large chest pockets with flaps, a five-button front, adjustable button cuffs, and a straight-cut hem. The HBT trousers have two slanted front pockets, two rear patch pockets, and side adjustment tabs for comfort and fit. The HBT cap, known as the “Daisy Mae,” was made from the same fabric, providing lightweight protection in warm climates.
This uniform was issued to all U.S. Army branches—infantry, engineers, armoured forces, and airborne units—and was widely worn from the North African campaign through Normandy and the Pacific.
