• Dark indigo blue wool

• Leather peak

• Branch-colored piping (infantry sky blue, artillery red, cavalry yellow)

• Brass horn (infantry), crossed sabres (cavalry), or guns (artillery)

2. M1858 Enlisted Frock Coat (Infantry/Artillery/Cavalry)

• Dark blue (indigo/“Union blue”)

• Nine-button front

• Branch-colored piping on cuffs and collar

• Sky-blue kersey trousers worn with it

3. M1858 Greatcoat (Overcoat)

• Double-breasted

• Sky blue wool

• Standing collar

• Cape reaching to elbow

• Infantry version often had sky-blue lining

4. M1858 Enlisted Trousers

• Sky blue kersey

• Reinforced seat
