The WWII British Royal Army Medical Corps (RAMC) Officer’s Peak Cap was the standard headdress worn by commissioned officers of the RAMC both in the field and in service dress. Distinguished by its maroon band and brass RAMC badge, it was part of the officer’s full khaki service uniform from 1939 to 1945 and was worn in all theatres of the war.
The cap was made from fine khaki barathea wool( 100% natural fibers only – no synthetic content Barathea used, 98% wool content, around 500 gsm) over a stiffened frame, featuring a dark maroon wool cap band specific to the RAMC branch. The crown was softly padded and the peak covered in smooth leather or polished fibreboard with a black gloss finish. The cap included a leather chinstrap secured with small brass buttons on either side. Inside, it was fully lined with polished cotton and fitted with a leather sweatband for comfort.
This reproduction follows the original wartime pattern exactly, capturing the professional and distinguished appearance of the WWII British Army medical officers.
