Highlights

This is a wool uniform coat also known as the “Pershing Type” tunic of the WW1 US Army. It is made in olive drab wool and has a standing collar, 4 inside slit pockets, and the pocket flaps are secured by buttons (which are not provided with the uniforms). The coat or tunic has an inside breast slit pocket and is lined in a Khaki cotton drill liner. No synthetic thread or fabric is used in its construction. There are two non-tapered shoulder tabs and the back of the coat is double stitched. The price of the coat is US$89 but the price may vary for shipping from continent to continent, FedEx’s remote delivery norms, and local taxes and duty structures. We do not charge anything extra for large sizes or for custom tailoring.  The fabric is a wool of 80% wool content and 20% cotton incipient just like the originals. The buttons are provided as well as the 10oz cotton drill lining fabric. The WW1 US Army AEF tunic or coat comes with plain cuffs, tapered shoulder loops and stand up collar.

Authentic reproduction of the WWI U.S. Army AEF M1918 Tunic, made from durable olive drab wool. Features high stand-and-fall collar, four patch pockets, button-front closure, and reinforced stitching — standard field tunic issued to Doughboys during the final year of the Great War.

The M1918 Tunic was introduced as an update to earlier service tunics, providing U.S. Army soldiers with improved fit, functionality, and durability in the field. Issued to enlisted men of the American Expeditionary Forces in France and Belgium, it became the standard field uniform for the final campaigns of World War I.

  • Historical Accuracy: Faithful reproduction based on original 1918 Quartermaster specifications and surviving examples from the Western Front.

  • Design Features:

    • Stand-and-fall collar, accommodating rank insignia and necktie

    • Button-front closure with reinforced placket

    • Four patch pockets with buttoned flaps for carrying personal items and field essentials

    • Straight-cut design, intended to be worn with M1912 or M1918 breeches and puttees

  • Usage: Worn by Doughboys during training, marches, trench duty, and combat operations in 1918.

  • Historical Context: Part of the AEF’s uniform modernization, the M1918 tunic offered a more practical and comfortable alternative to the earlier M1912 cotton and wool tunics while maintaining a sharp military appearance.
