The British Army World War I uniform pattern 1902-1907 service dress (SD) OR’s uniform tunic or jacket is a loose fitting garment with a turned down or “rolled” collar ( we offer this jacket in both round and tailored collar-please specify while ordering), rifle patches on the shoulders, patch pockets on the breast and side pockets let into the skirts below the waist. The 1902 pattern British SD tunic comes with plain removable shoulder straps while the British 1907 pattern WW1 SD tunic comes with sewn down cloth shoulder straps. This is the pattern that most WW1 British army troops went to battle in. The lining is in strips of white cotton and all facings are of the same drab serge as the jacket (pocket facings and front button-hole facings). A field-dressing pocket is sewn to the interior right front skirt and the front is closed with 5 large buttons. The tunics come with plain dull brass finish buttons. The British WW1 SD tunics are fitted with ample room to allow for wearing the shirt and cardigan sweater underneath. The neck hole is gathered by two pleats (darts) and each side of the collar in front and the armholes where the sleeve attaches have a reinforcing felling stitch around the armhole.

The WW1 British Army (Tommy) Service Dress (SD) Trouser is made from 100% wool serge (not broad cloth like our competitors), is mill dyed (not vat dyed – so even coloring is present, no splotches), khaki, 80% wool & 20% cotton incipient, 100% natural fibers and is in the same fabric as the tunic. It is fitted loose and straight-legged and rides high on the waist and is held up by trouser braces. It is lined at the waistband and at the crotch with white cotton duck. The waistband is fitted with 12 buttons for the trouser braces. The buttons are white metal zinc and pockets are let into the side seams of the trousers and has two front pockets and one rear pocket. The WW1 British Army SD Trouser is straight cut, with reinforced seat and knee, and is straight cut.
Our WW1 British Army OR’s Puttees are made in tight weave 100% natural (87% wool, 13&cotton) serge wool and have cotton tapes at the end for tying. They are regulation 3.5″ width and 9′ long and tape is 1.5″ long.
