Our 1903/1907 Pattern Canadian Army Service Dress Tunic is made as per the patterns of the standard field uniform worn by the CEF during the First World War. It is b ased closely on the British 1902 Service Dress, the Canadian version was manufactured in Canada to local specifications and saw widespread use from 1914 to 1916, and in some cases later, until replaced by the British-supplied 1914 (SD) tunic.
Our WW1 Canadian (CEF) 1903/1907 pattern tunics are made from coarse khaki s wool, and the tunic was cut for durability and practicality, just like the originals. The CEF 1903/1907 pattern tunics feature a stand-and-fall collar, pleated breast pockets with scalloped flaps, and unpleated lower pockets (patch style). The front closed with five/seven large brass buttons. Reinforced seams and a belt hook arrangement supported the wear of equipment.
One distinctively Canadian feature is the detachable shoulder straps (shoulder loops/epaulettes), which can be fitted with colored cloth distinguishing patches identifying units or branches of service. Complete chart is provided above in the product highlight section and you can choose your tunic with the appropriate colored eppaulete you want to portray in the product selection section. These were rectangular or pointed slips of cloth in branch colours, and later (from 1916 onward) battalion and formation patches were adopted.
This faithful reproduction captures all the period details: heavy wool khaki, authentic pocket configuration, correct brass buttons, and the overall cut and silhouette of the original tunic, suitable for collectors, re-enactors, living history, films, movies and museums.
