The WWII French Army Colonial Khaki Drill Uniform was the standard tropical and desert service dress worn by French colonial troops and Foreign Legion units serving in North Africa, Syria, and the Levant during the Second World War. Designed for comfort and practicality in hot climates, this uniform was made from lightweight khaki cotton drill, offering both ventilation and durability under desert conditions.
This tunic features a five-button front, four box-pleated pockets with scalloped flaps, shoulder epaulettes, and an open collar suitable for wear with or without a tie. The trousers are straight-cut with button fly, belt loops, and side and rear pockets. This set was typically worn with a khaki web or leather belt, wool or cotton puttees, and a sun helmet (can be ordered separately at an additional cost) or chechia cap (included in offer) depending on branch and region.
Issued widely to Tirailleurs Sénégalais, Légion Étrangère, Spahis, and Chasseurs d’Afrique, this uniform became iconic of the French Army’s North African campaigns of 1940–43.
