Our replication is a wonderfully tailored, faithful reproduction of the Victorian Irish Guards Full Dress Tunic, introduced at the regiment’s formation in 1900. Tailored from fine branded scarlet melton wool, this tunic features the regiment’s distinctive dark blue facings, gold lace (for officers/worsted white lace – as in picture for enlisted men – choice available), shoulder straps, and arrangement of buttons in groups of four — the Irish Guards’ unique identifier among the Foot Guards. The collar is edged in gold lace and decorated with the shamrock insignia, symbolic of the regiment’s Irish heritage. The cuffs are dark blue with gold braid detail, completing one of the most elegant uniforms of the late Victorian British Army.
Perfect for museums, collectors, ceremonial displays, movies/films and high-fidelity reenactment, this tunic exemplifies the craftsmanship and regimental pride of the newly raised Irish Guards at the close of Queen Victoria’s reign.
