Our version of the leather ammunition belt and ammunition pouches is a credible version of the originals which are a vital part of the WW1 Imperial Russian soldier’s field equipment. These are worn over the gymnasterka and secured around the waist, they are are designed to carry the twin leather ammunition pouches essential for the Mosin–Nagant rifle, while also serving as the mounting point for the soldier’s bayonet, entrenching tool, or other small field gear. The ammunition pouches are also offered for sale with the belt or separately in black or brown color.
Both the belt and the ammunition pouches are constructed from sturdy brown or black leather (100% naturally tanned like the originals, in more than 0.9 mm thickness, shiny finish, pigmented with natural dyes, bovine leather), the belt is adjustable with a simple roller buckle and reinforced stitching. It is standard issue for enlisted ranks (ryadovye), the belt forms the centerpiece of the soldier’s load-bearing kit, distributing weight evenly while keeping cartridges quickly accessible in combat.
When paired with the gymnasterka, sharovary breeches, puttees, and forage cap, the ammunition belt completed the distinctive appearance of the Russian soldier on the Eastern Front.
