Retaining its striking 19th-century appearance, this set combined bold colours with practical tailoring—soon to be replaced by the horizon-blue uniform from 1915 onward. Since these colors were not suitable for camouflage, specially as red color etc. could be spotted be spotted from a long distance away and could easily become the target of riflemen in the opposing army, it was soon replaced by the Horizon Blue uniform.
