Our M1912 French Army Ankle Boots are 100% exact reproductions of the WW1 French Army M1912 Ankle boots. They were the standard-issue footwear of the French infantry during the First World War and replaced the earlier M1893 model boots.
Our boots are constructed from 100% vegetable tanned, stout natural leather, and the boots are ankle-high with six pairs of lace eyelets and a reinforced toe. The soles are built for durability, made of thick leather with hobnails and steel heel plates, providing traction on mud, cobblestones, and uneven terrain. Stitching is heavy-duty, and the boots are designed to be worn with wool socks and wrapped puttees for ankle support. The uppers are hand stitched and the soles are hand lasted to the uppers – so the boots are completely hand made.
Issued widely from 1912 until the end of the war (and later replaced by the M1917 model – which is also available for sale on this website).
This reproduction is crafted using authentic vegetable-tanned leather, hobnailed soles, and period-correct stitching, making it ideal for living history, re-enactment, museum display, films, movies, theater and serious collectors.
