The American Expeditionary Forces Officer’s Tunic was the centerpiece of the U.S. Army officer’s uniform during World War I. Distinguished from enlisted tunics by superior tailoring, finer fabric, and polished details, it projected authority while providing durability in both camp and combat environments.

  • Historical Accuracy: Reproduced from original 1917–1918 Quartermaster specifications and surviving officer examples.

  • Material: High-quality wool serge, finer than enlisted issue, providing both comfort and durability.

  • Design Features:

    • Stand-and-fall collar with loops for rank insignia

    • Five or six brass buttons with U.S. insignia (depending on rank)

    • Two breast pockets with buttoned flaps

    • Two lower pockets with pleated design for field utility

    • Tailored cut for officer appearance and freedom of movement

  • Usage: Worn by lieutenants, captains, and field officers in France and Belgium during 1917–1918, for daily service, inspections, and formal occasions.

  • Distinctive Look: Officer tunics were sharper, better fitted, and made from higher-quality wool than enlisted tunics, ensuring a professional and commanding appearance.
