Authentic reproduction of the WWI Austro-Hungarian M1917 Summer Uniform for Other Ranks, made from lightweight cotton drill in field-grey (Hechtgrau). Includes tunic and trousers designed for hot-weather service on the Eastern and Balkan fronts.

The M1917 summer uniform was introduced by the Austro-Hungarian Army to provide enlisted men with lighter, more breathable clothing for service in warm climates. While the standard wool uniform was suited for central Europe, the demands of the Balkan and Italian campaigns made a lighter uniform essential. The summer issue kept the same cut and style as the wool field uniform but was manufactured from cotton drill for comfort and practicality.

  • Historical Accuracy: Reproduced from original examples and period regulations, true to Austro-Hungarian Army specifications.

  • Material: Lightweight cotton drill in field-grey (Hechtgrau), selected for breathability in hot conditions.

  • Historical Context: The M1917 summer uniform reflected the empire’s need to adapt to diverse climates across multiple fronts. It maintained the visual appearance of the wool field uniform while offering greater comfort in warm weather, ensuring soldiers retained a standardized look without the burden of heavy wool in summer heat.

Perfect for reenactors, collectors, museums, or film productions, this uniform represents the lighter, field-ready clothing of the Austro-Hungarian soldier in World War I.
