This reproduction WW1 Imperial German Army Officer’s tunic reflects the elegance and authority of the uniforms worn by German officers during the Great War. Tailored from fine field-grey wool (Feldgrau), it combines smart military styling with practical features designed for active service.
The tunic is stand-collared with facing in branch colors (Waffenfarbe), displaying the officer’s arm of service. It is cut with a clean, tailored fit and features five to eight domed metal buttons down the front, depending on regulation style. Distinctive pleated breast and skirt pockets with scalloped flaps provide both utility and the correct period appearance. Officers often privately purchased these tunics, so minor variations in cut and finish were common, reflecting individual taste and means.
Epaulettes or shoulder boards indicated rank and regiment, while the cuffs and collar bore piping in the prescribed branch color. The tunic’s rear was vented, allowing comfortable wear with sword belts and field gear.
