WW1 Australian Khaki Drill Tunic & Shorts (Reproduction)
Our reproduction set represents the lightweight tropical service dress issued to Australian Imperial Force (AIF) troops during the First World War, especially in Gallipoli, Mesopotamia, and the Middle East. Designed for hot climates, the khaki drill tunic and shorts offered comfort and ventilation while retaining the smart appearance of the standard service dress.
Our tunic is constructed from light khaki cotton drill, with four patch pockets (two pleated breast pockets and two skirt pockets), a stand-and-fall collar, and a five-button front. The lightweight fabric was quick-drying and far cooler than wool, making it ideal for campaigning in desert and Mediterranean conditions.
The shorts are cut from the same khaki drill, with a high waist, button fly, and belt loops, providing a practical fit for tropical service. They taper just above the knee and are reinforced with sturdy stitching for durability.
This set is an essential representation of the ANZAC summer and tropical uniform, perfect for reenactors, collectors, and museums seeking historical authenticity.
