This is our exquisite reproduction of the late Victorian British Hussar Officer’s Full Dress Tunic, known as the Dolman. Tailored from fine dark navy blue wool and lavishly trimmed with gold cord frogging, this tunic epitomizes the flamboyant elegance of Britain’s light cavalry regiments between 1880 and 1902.
The tunic features multiple rows of gold cord across the chest, each fastened with gilt buttons and finished in intricate knotwork (olivets). The stand-up collar and pointed Hungarian cuffs are richly decorated in gold lace, and the entire tunic is edged with gilt lace braid. This pattern was worn by Hussar regiments such as the 7th Queen’s Own Hussars, 8th King’s Royal Irish Hussars, and 15th The King’s Hussars during the height of the Victorian era.
