WW1 Italian Army Breeches – Ordinary Soldier (Pantaloni da Truppa)
Our WW1 Italian Army breeches are a faithful reproduction of the standard issue legwear for the Regio Esercito (Royal Italian Army) infantry and support troops during the First World War. They were part of the grigio verde uniform system, adopted from 1908 onward in which the ordinary soldier uniforms were made grey-green from the previous colorful uniforms.
Constructed from wool “grigio verde” (please see wool specifications in the product highlight section), the breeches are tailored with a slightly wide leg at the thigh, tapering toward the knee, so they could be comfortably worn with puttees or gaiters. The breeches are reinforced at stress points (seat, inner thighs) to withstand wear in the field. They connected at the waist to the tunic belt and are cut to allow freedom of movement.
Breeches are worn with puttees/leg wraps.
