We manufacture the WW2 British Army bivouac tent (commonly known as the “bivi tent”). It is a compact, two-man field shelter that was issued to Commonwealth troops for use in Europe, North Africa, and beyond in WW2. The Bivi tent is constructed from heavy khaki cotton canvas, it offers a quick and portable solution for frontline soldiers who need lightweight protection from the elements.
The tent is formed from two shelter halves, each carried by one soldier. When buttoned together, supported by wooden poles and guy ropes, the halves created a small A-frame tent just large enough for two men and their equipment.
Accompanying the shelter is the groundsheet, a treated canvas sheet that doubled as a rain cape. It provides protection against mud and moisture, making the bivouac system more versatile in harsh campaign conditions.
