Our WW1 Canadian Army (CEF) leather Jerkin which is the essentially the same as the WW1 British Army leather Jerkin that the Tommy wore, is made from 100% naturally tanned (not chrome tanned), vegetable dyed (not synthetic dyes used, making it authentic for the period and safe to use), minimum 0.70 mm thick, brown, bovine leather. It is insulated by a blanket lining, sleeveless, has 4 leather buttons, and is roomy so that it can be worn over the uniform.
