  • Our WW1 Canadian Army (CEF) greyback shirt is a 100% Authentic reproduction of WW1 Canadian Expeditionary Force Greyback Shirt used by CEF, British and Commonwealth troops in Europe, France and in the trenches.

  • Made from grey wool-cotton flannel, true to period material (also called Cotswool), the fabric is 100% natural fiber, and is a melange grey, under 12 oz. in weight, breathable but slightly rough – just like the originals. No synthetic threads are used in it’s construction.

  • Three-button placket front with authentic zinc reproduction buttons

  • Generous cut with long tails and roomy sleeves for field use – the tails are sufficiently long enough to tuck into breeches.

  • Single-button cuffs and reinforced seams for durability with ample room in sleeves.

  • Historically accurate melange grey finish, matching original 1914–18 issue with white tape at the neck.

  • Ideal for reenactment, living history, museums, and collectors, films and movies.

  • The price of the WW1 Canadian Army (CEF) 1903/1907 wool melange greyback shirt may vary a little due to FedEx’s varying costing policy from continent to continent and remote delivery norms. Prices may also vary due to local taxes, duties & tariffs, GST, Sales Tax, Octroi, Levies etc. in your region.

Our WW1 Canadian Army “Greyback” Shirt is the standard-issue undergarment worn by members of the Canadian Expeditionary Force (CEF) during the Great War. Constructed from grey flannel wool-cotton blend, the shirt provided warmth, breathability, and durability under field conditions. Its distinctive “greyback” name derived from the grey-coloured fabric used throughout and is common with the British Army (BEF) and other Commonwealth Forces.

Our reproduction has authentic period details: a deep placket front with three buttons ( zinc), pointed collar, and long tails for tucking into breeches. The sleeves were cut generously for freedom of movement and finished with single-button cuffs. Flat-felled seams are reinforced at stress points, reflecting wartime manufacturing practices.

Originally issued in vast numbers between 1914–1918, the greyback shirt was universally worn by Canadian infantry and support troops, both on campaign, in camp and in the trenches. This reproduction preserves the authentic weight, colour, and cut of the original, making it suitable for collectors, re-enactors, films, movies, living history afficianados, and museums.
