History: One of the most common military tents from the 18th century through WW1, still used in variations later.
Shape: Simple A-frame design with a ridgepole supported by two upright poles at each end.
Fabric: Heavy-duty cotton canvas, usually white or off-white in earlier armies (later khaki/OD in 20th century). White or off-white/Khaki/OD available as fabric choice in product selection menu. Fabric is approx. 12.8 oz./sq.yard, 100% natural heavy duty cotton, wet dyed to khaki and Oliver Drab. White/off- white is natural color of canvas. Fabric is water prood, rot resistant and without any synthetic content.
Size: Typically ~6 ft wide × 8 ft long × 6 ft tall at ridge.
Capacity: 2–4 men (depending on size).
Fittings: Wooden poles, hemp ropes, wooden stakes.
Use: Universally issued as soldier shelters in Napoleonic Wars, American Civil War, Franco-Prussian War, and even auxiliary use in WW1.
