The WW2 British Army Medical Tent as manufactured by us with the specifications of the Department of Defence prevalent at the time, was a vital part of the Royal Army Medical Corps’ (RAMC) field equipment. These tents served as advanced dressing stations, surgical posts, and casualty holding wards, often located just behind the front lines.
Constructed of khaki cotton duck canvas, they are marked with large red cross symbols on white backgrounds for recognition under the Geneva Convention. The rectangular peaked-roof design, with tall side walls, allowed maximum interior space for medical staff, stretchers, and equipment. They come in two versions – with side panels and without side panels.
Unlike smaller troop tents, British medical tents were unit-level issue and transported by truck. Their size and height made them easily identifiable in encampments, and they often formed the core of mobile field hospitals in Europe, North Africa, and Asia.
